We’ve said it before, and we’ll say it again: Thank you!
On Saturday, August 19 many financial supporters gathered atop Goat Hill to enjoy coffee, pastries, conversation, and (of course) the spectacular view. (OK, maybe there was a bit of fog, but it was still lovely.)
Thanks to the generous contributions of our many supporters, Goat Hill and the Romac Orchard have been saved. Thanks also to the Town of Acton, and Maine Farmland Trust, who made this incredible project a success. Acton now owns the 25 acres that contain the hilltop and the spectacular views, and this property will be managed as a public park.
The orchard was split into two parcels, now conserved and owned privately – we have a pick-your-own apple orchard and hard cider operation to look forward to in the future.
The next phase for us is fundraising to help create the new parking area and ADA compliant walking trail. More on that and future conservation plans coming soon.
